In 2013 a Breast Cancer Care group was formed where connections were first established with breast cancer organizations, breast cancer support groups as well as with women who had a personal experience of the disease. From this foundation, the group presented Breast Cancer retreats in Lismore NSW that were attended by women who had or previously have had breast cancer. As well as presentations on relevant topics, the women experienced gentle hands on healing, which supported them to re-connect to their bodies and themselves, and remember the innate stillness that resides within.

‘With breast cancer can come fear, uncertainty and exhaustion. However, for many a diagnosis can also become an opportunity for a life-changing experience – to truly stop, re-evaluate the way we live and then reintegrate into life a future where we can deeply care for ourselves as women, equal to all others.’

The focus of the retreats was to introduce what it means to truly self-care and self-nurture and how lifestyle choices have an impact on our overall health and well-being. Twenty-four practitioners including presenters, medical and allied health professionals offered their time, energy and commitment on a volunteer basis.
